2016 Press

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 5 OCTOBER 2016 AT 9 AM (EEST)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to deliver 34 Kalmar Gloria reachstackers to the European ro-ro terminal operator C.RO Ports SA. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2016 third quarter order intake. Deliveries are planned to take place between December 2016 and December 2017.

The new Kalmar Gloria reachstackers will replace existing equipment and support C.RO Ports SA's and CLdN roro SA's growth plans over the next five years, driven by the need to efficiently handle increasingly larger vessels. The machines join a fleet that already contains 19 Kalmar reachstackers.

Of the 34 Kalmar DRG450 Gloria reachstackers delivered, 19 will be equipped with Kalmar's K-Motion drive train technology and SmartFleet remote monitoring solution. Kalmar K-Motion increases efficiency and productivity of the terminal by improving reachstacker uptime, ergonomics and safety, while also reducing both fuel consumption and emissions by up to 40% compared to the existing equipment. Kalmar SmartFleet improves operational transparency to the terminal management and reduces downtime through remote equipment monitoring and reporting.

Bart Van der Cruysse, General Manager at Kalmar Belgium commented: "We are pleased to support our customer's growth plans with our Gloria reachstackers. Kalmar K-Motion technology will drive further efficiencies in their operations resulting in substantial fuel savings and increased productivity. With Kalmar SmartFleet reporting statistics based on key performance indicators our customer will have a clear and accurate picture of what's really going on in their terminal."

C.RO Ports SA handles trailers, containers, vehicles and general cargo at its terminals, which provide a ro-ro connection between the UK ports of Killingholme and Purfleet and the continental European ports of Zeebrugge, Belgium and Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In addition, CLdN roro SA offers connection from the Continent to the British Isles, Scandinavia and Iberia including ports of Dublin in Ireland, Esbjerg in Denmark, Göteborg in Sweden and Leixoes in Portugal.
